Project overview
Residential villa elevator retrofit for a private villa site in North Goa, showing how the solution was shaped around actual planning conditions instead of a standard package.
Site context
This assignment involved a home elevator for a private villa in North Goa. The lift had to sit comfortably inside an existing home layout, respect finish expectations, and support daily residential use without unnecessary civil disruption.
Planning challenge
The villa required easier movement between floors, but the available space for the lift was within an existing stairwell with tight slab and circulation constraints.
Eleva approach
Eleva planned a compact home elevator within the available stairwell space, aligned finish expectations early, and ensured that long-term service access remained practical.
Installation outcome
The installation delivered a compact elevator solution that fit within the existing structure, worked well for residential use, and avoided unnecessary civil work.
Project details
- Location: North Goa villa (existing construction)
- Configuration: 1 home elevator, 4 passenger / 272 kg, hydraulic type
- Floors served: G+2
- Shaft: 1350 mm x 1350 mm stairwell space, pitless installation
- Special requirement: Zero excavation
- Installation period: 25 working days
What made this installation work
The villa had been occupied for several years, and the requirement came from the need to improve accessibility for elderly family members. A conventional lift pit was not possible because a plinth beam passed through the selected lift area.
A pitless hydraulic system was used, allowing the lift to sit directly on the existing slab without excavation. The hydraulic power unit was placed in an adjacent storage space to keep the installation clean and unobtrusive.
Since the lift was installed within an open stairwell without enclosing walls, a self-supporting steel shaft structure was provided instead of relying on the staircase for support. This ensured structural independence and a controlled installation.
